Hey WO Tennis Family, The girls are continuing their great season with another conference win yesterday at Grandville. We move to 2-0 in the OK-Red, and 8-1 overall on the year. One story of the Grandville match was the weather conditions. There was a 30mph crosswind for the match, and the "feels like" temperature was in the 30's. Another story of the match was a much improved Grandville team from last year. Congrats to 1st year head coach Coach Wagley for the job he did preparing the team for the match. They gave us the intensity and fight we needed to force us to play our best. And the main story of the day, of course, was our girls stepping up to both challenges. Evie was poised against a player whose flat groundstrokes were particularly challenging to face in the wind. Danielle and Jessica posted two of the quickest victories of the year. At 4, Kayla took care of business quite fast as well. In the doubles, Eden/Maggie and Kallyn/Lovelle and Aleah/Liv both handled the wind and opponent with very strong play from start to finish. Our Audrey/Mallory had a 30 minute stretch where the conditions and Grandville got the better of them, but the 1st and 3rd sets saw outstanding play throughout, earning them a 3 set victory. Kate/Haylee needed 3 or 4 games to settle into their match, but once they got used to the crazy conditions, they never looked back put on one of their better performances of the season. Here are the current OK Red Standings: 1. West Ottawa (2-0) 1. Rockford (2-0) 3. Grandville (1-1) 4. Grand Haven (0-1) 4. Hudsonville (0-1) 6. East Kentwood (0-2) A heads up that we've got a rocking post coming soon about our Saturday Quad against some of the best teams in the state. But scores are still getting posted, so I'm waiting until we have full results sent our way before the writeup. In the meantime, I'll just say that it was the most successful east side trip our girls program has ever taken, and fun details are coming soon!!!
